Our Garlic varieties ....

Our traditional  ‘TURBAN’  garlic:

RAW   they have a beautiful aroma and  a very rich, medium to hot flavour that fades quickly.

SAUTEED   they have an almost nutty garlic flavour, and

ROASTED   they’re melt in the mouth almost caramelised – YUM!

They have a purple tinge to their outer skin and will keep until around June/July.

They don't have the extended storage of later season varieties, but generally have bigger, plumper cloves popular with home cooks.

Our new ‘CREOLE' variety:

RAW   they have a strong, rich, true garlic flavour, mild to hot.

SAUTEED   they give an explosion of nutty flavour. A gentle saute maintains heat, but they become much nuttier when crisp.

ROASTED   they have lovely mellow caramel flavours, and lose some of their intensity.

They have a white outer skin with purple skinned cloves, which are generally smaller than the Turbans.  They are harvested later and if correctly stored will last until the Turbans are harvested.

Growing our Garlic in raised beds gives us many advantages:

*better control over quality of soils

*good crop rotation - each bed is

    rested every third year.

  *good drainage

  *easier weeding

  *more specific plant feeding

*no damage from machinery as it's all

    manually harvested!
